ECCO® Golf Ambassador Minjee Lee wins LPGA Tour’s Lotte Championship

Minjee_Lotte_pressLeading golf footwear innovator, ECCO Golf, is delighted to announce that ambassador and teenage sensation Minjee Lee fired a flawless final round of 64 to win the LPGA’s Lotte Championship, Hawaii, on Saturday.

Competing in the company’s flagship BIOM Hybrid 2 design, the 19-year-old Australian closed with a back nine of 30, ending the event with an impressive 16-under-par 272 total making her only of only five players in LPGA history to secure multiple wins before her 20th birthday.

“It’s definitely a big confidence boost,” Lee commented, “For the last couple of weeks I was there, but not quite there. Now my game seems to be coming together really well.

“As a player you’re always harder on yourself. I know that I’m doing pretty well, so I’m trying to be even better every day. That’s just my mind set.”

Jesper Thuen, Head of Asia-Pacific and responsible for sponsorship at ECCO Golf, added:

“Minjee is an outstanding talent. To have multiple LPGA Tour victories under her belt as a teenager is an amazing achievement and we’re absolutely thrilled to have her as an ambassador.

“She is one of a growing stable choosing to compete in our footwear at the top of the women’s game. I’m sure this is the first of many LPGA Tour victories this year for both Minjee and ECCO Golf.”

Handcrafted from rich, supple yak leather, women’s ECCO BIOM Hybrid 2 boasts a sleek, low-profile frame and uppers that are colour-matched to the outsole, trim and laces. To ensure a pleasant walk, the shoe’s array of comfort technologies includes:

  1. Superb cushioning and advanced support via NATURAL MOTION technology that mirrors the foot’s anatomical shape
  2. E-DTS outsole with molded traction bars made from durable TPU that provide hundreds of traction angles for superb grip
  3. ECCO Freedom Fit mixing a snug heel setting with a roomier forefoot area that allows toes to move naturally

Like all ECCO golf shoes, women’s ECCO BIOM Hybrid 2 is crafted at ECCO-owned factories using the Direct-injection Process. This bonds the upper and outsole unit, creating a one-piece shoe without the use of glue or stitching. Benefits include permanent memory and a firm, water-tight seal. In addition to the water-proof GORE-TEX version, women’s ECCO BIOM Hybrid 2 is available in weather-resistant ECCO HYDROMAX®.
